Are you a bit “heavy”?  I am.  My BMI puts me in the zone of obese.  That was a wake up call for me.  I wasn’t really paying attention, being a guy.  I was just eating chips, playing video games, watching movies, and browsing the internet.  But that… that smacked me upside the head and said, “Hey, you are eating yourself into horrible health!  Get out and exercise!”

weight lossSo that’s what I plan on doing.  My girlfriend loves fitness and exercise and follows all of the female bloggers online talking about working out and dieting.  She made me realize how many people are out there looking for inspiration and guidance.  I’m not much of a follower.  I like to get out there and learn the game myself and that’s what this site represents.  My blog will follow my adventure from today, Week 1, all the way to Week 50 as I go from Fat to Fit in Fifty Weeks.

My name is Jerry Brownstone.  I’m fat.  But not for long.  In just under a year I will be a beast.  I will be increasing my maximum bench press and squats, I will be doing longer and faster cardiovascular runs, and I will be far more flexible than I’ve ever been in my life.  This is the goal that will happen.  I will not rest until I am in full health again.  Right now I plan on doing a lot of yoga I’ve been reading about at www.patanjaliyogasutras.net.

fitnessWhat I plan on doing right off the bat is starting to hit the weights at least 3 times a week, and make sure im taking in enough protein powder to repair my muscles.  In addition, I need to learn more about knee braces since I get knee pain after running.  I found a site about that earlier at www.akneepainafterrunning.com.  They suggest all kinds of things to do for knee pain. like lay in bed with your legs elevated under a cooling blanket.  I’m going to try that next time!

I want to find some solid weight training routines to go through at the gym.  I don’t have a lot of time though, so I’ll have to find the right ones.  In addition to all of this, I need to start researching what its going to take for me to restrict my diet.  I need to eat less so that my calories in are less than calories out.  This is going to be the hardest part, but I think if I switch to diet sodas, and then just cut back on the chips, that should make a huge difference.  I also plan on having one glass of water before every meal to decrease hunger so I don’t overeat.  If I meet my fitness goals before it’s all over, I’m going to take the driving lessons for Chelmsford I’ve been wanting before I start racing again.
